Tips/tricks to help you live an active and healthy lifestyle

Be Proud Mama

Amy Waldman

Can we all agree that becoming a parent changes your life? Of course, you never knew love like this was possible and it is incredibly rewarding. But, let's be real, it turns your life upside down. From how you choose where you will go out to eat based on where you feel comfortable nursing/changing your baby, or maybe if they have crayons. And, the conversations you have now are about merlin magical sleep suits, and usually come from a place of 'is this normal'. Your relationships change. You and your partner's dynamic is different, you start looking at your parents/caregivers differently, etc.

I am here to say, you are doing an AMAZING job! Be PROUD and stand behind all of the decisions you have made and what type of parent you have chosen to be. Parenthood is not for the weak!

Also, congratulate your self for making it to a Child+Me Fitness class week after week says SO much! It shows your child that in the midst of whatever is going on, you still make yourself/self care a priority. If you teach your child ONE thing in life, this is a pretty good lesson, no? They also pick up on the value of an active lifestyle. And, learn about relationships by seeing you connect with other mamas!

What am I trying to say, CONGRATULATIONS! Keep doing what you are doing!

How to get a bikini bod

Amy Waldman

Life is too short to miss out on the ultimate feeling of jumping into a pool on a hot day! The multi BILLION dollar health and wellness industry makes money by successfully making us feel that we are not quite ready to put on a bathing suit. This is the time of year when we are BOMBARDED with negative messaging in order to 'help us' get 'bikini ready'. What does that even mean?! 30 days to a bikini bod, 21 days to a better you. BUT, IF we purchase their '26 day fix', 'beach body' video, etc., we can THEN put on a bathing suit.

How about this, go put on your bathing suit, grab some sunscreen and look, you're 'bikini ready', TODAY, RIGHT NOW! Life is too short to miss out on the ultimate feeling of jumping into a pool on a hot day. Nobody else cares what you look like because they too have been unable to avoid the body shaming from every direction. The hottest person at the pool is always the one that struts around OWNING the joint, regardless of their size. We hear we are not quite 'there' yet physically. Or, if we just do these '5 moves 50 times a week', or cleanse this or detox that, THEN we will be bathing suit ready. I SAY SHAME ON THESE MESSAGES!

AND, if you are a parent, don't forget, your child is WATCHING! What are you going to choose to teach your daughters/sons about their own body image??

Grab your trunks and head to the nearest pool ASAP! #CannonBall
Be comfortable in your own skin! Jump in a pool on a hot day WHENEVER you can! OWN IT! WORK IT! So what's the secret to a bikini body, YOU ALREADY HAVE ONE!

5 Benefits of ViLLAGE Workouts:

Amy Waldman

1) A remedy for both depression/postpartum blues and anxiety and is proven to improve your mood by increasing the brain's 'feel-good' chemical serotonin and dopamine levels.
2) Reduce stress by helping to control cortisol, the stress hormone.
3) Help you think more clearly and logically by its effect on cognitive function. (Who doesn't need this after a couple of sleepless nights!)
4) Prevent other diseases/health conditions. (We need to be strong and healthy for our family!)
5) ViLLAGE workouts allow you to connect with other moms/dad and your baby. It truly takes a ViLLAGE.

My Healthy Life - Tip #2

Amy Waldman

If you feel like working out is a chore, this tip is for you. Whether you have a fitness routine that you could enjoy more or are struggling to create one there is hope. Social activities with a friend are an excellent option. Working out in a group is motivating, creates accountability, and it's fun. Or, try different times of the day to be active. Working out in the morning will give you a boost of energy throughout the day. Activity at the end of the day may help you wind down. Finally, experiment with different types of activities; there are so many options for group classes, a nice walk, or a bike ride may be just what you need.
Bottom line, change up they activity you are doing if you do not enjoy it. Soon enough, you too will be looking forward to being active!

Healthy Habits - Tip #1

Amy Waldman

Hope you enjoyed your weekend!
Maybe the nice weather is inspiring you to make healthier choices; be more active, eat better, etc. but we get it, it's hard to know where to begin. A great way to create a new habit is to take things one at a time, baby steps. Rather then try to change EVERYTHING in a week, which isn't fun, hard to keep up with and a little unrealistic, why not pick 1 thing to change and build from there. This is how real change occurs, trust me! For example, instead of saying you will work out every day this week, commit to 1 day. Or if you are already working out twice a week, commit to a third day. Or, if sugar is your weakness and you are having a sweet treat twice a day. Rather then cutting it out all together, start with only having one sweet treat a day.
